Aminé
Aminé
Aminé and I became friends while both attending Portland State University in 2015. He had just started his music career and needed help creating album covers. I was still learning about design when we began working together and am thankful that he trusted me. Eight years later and we are still collaborating on album covers, tour posters, social media assets, and other designs.
He is such a talented artist and it has been incredible to watch him grow. If you haven’t heard him yet, give his amazing music a listen.
Good For You
Aminé’s debut album Good For You released in 2017. Together we collaborated on a 9 page print newspaper (The Good For You Post), a custom typeface for the cover, and took various photographs for the publications articles. When the album was released, Aminé held installations in Los Angeles and New York City for fans to be photographed on the bright blue toilet, take photos with him, and receive their very own copy of the Good For You post.
Quincy's Auto Group Illustration
Aminé might be one of the most creative artists out there when it comes to his music video art direction. He needed a simple caricature illustration and signage for his Red Mercedes video and Quincy’s Auto Group was born.
Calling Brio
Calling Brio was one of Aminé’s very first albums that we worked on while attending Portland State University. I had never used a 3D program before and this was my very first attempt at using Maya’s MudBox. He wanted to pay homage to his Ethiopian roots with the cover so we incorporated facial markings and a custom typeface inspired by his family’s heritage. Till this day, it’s still one of my favorite projects!
